Serena Jakeka Williams was born in 1981 in Saginaw, Michigan by Richard Williams and Oracene Price. Williams passion for tennis began to grow when her and her family moved to Compton, California, starting to play Tennis at the age of three years old. Their parents ended up coaching her. Near the age of ten, Serena wanted to slow things down so stopped practice at the age of ten to focus more on school. Later in her life, Williams continues playing tennis, earning the best female tennis player award by ESPN and scoring the most grand slams titles in the Open Era.

Williams has won four Olympic Medals in her career as well as being the oldest U.S. open champion in the open era.

Serena Williams has been named WTA player of the year for the sixth time.

Williams has been deemed number one in female tennis playing on several occasions by the ESPN.

Serena has won several Olympic medals, including one in 2012 for the summer games.

Serena has been playing tennis since the age of three.

Williams holds the most major titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles combined among recent players.

Williams earns the award following her win in the Ladies Finale in 2016.
